Landscape photographers face the challenge of capturing the depth and luminosity of a beautiful scene within a flat, two-dimensional photograph. To convey a landscape’s depth and grandeur, they rely on their understanding of how light transforms a scene. The Sweet Light, also known as the golden hour, occurs just after sunrise or before sunset. During this time, the low sun casts warm, soft rays that bathe the landscape enhancing colors and creating shadows. These shadows reveal textures and depth, creating a photograph that appears more vivid and three-dimensional to the viewer just as the photographer experienced.
I search for the Sweet Light, the golden glow of the sun that illuminates nature’s sublime expression of creativity and intelligence in the landscapes around me. The beauty of this light leads me along trails and byways, gently drawing me inward to a place of silence. In that quite space, I witness and capture nature's splendor with my camera.
